“I think about Darian on a daily basis and cannot even begin to express the amount of gratitude I have for this wonderful woman. Having her as my birth doula was an absolute god send, and my husband and I frequently wonder how we would have gotten through it without her.
My husband was initially unsure about having a doula, though after attending a birthing class he quickly changed his mind. With only a month left before my due date, we were scrambling to find a doula with availability. Darian came highly recommended from a number of women, and immediately was able to fit us onto her schedule. She is such a warm, gentle, and comforting person, which was exactly what I ended up needing during labor. It couldn't have been more of a perfect fit.

I spent a significant amount of time in the comfort of my own home while laboring thanks to Darian's advice and direction. During the early morning, I wasn't even sure I had gone into labor; nonetheless, Darian quickly showed up at our house and helped me for hours with breathing exercises, warm baths, massages, etc. until she determined it was time to leave. At the hospital, she made me feel comforted with essential oils, positioning, cool towels, and anything else I needed (she was so intuitive and generally knew what I was needing without me saying anything). During the pushing process, she implemented the most incredible/beautiful meditation technique, which was most likely the only reason I didn't give up and collapse from exhaustion.

I know many women fear doulas may be judgmental regarding medical interventions, as I initially was, but Darian was so supportive of our birth plan and helped me to feel strong even when I tapped out and decided to get an epidural. She provided nothing other than praise and encouragement the entire time, regardless of our decisions and changes to the birth plan.

We love Darian so much, and having her present during one of our biggest moments changed our lives for the better. Thanks to Darian, I am able to say I thoroughly enjoyed my birthing experience and look at it in such a positive light, which sadly many cannot say. We hope to have Darian present with us again for future births, and cannot recommend her services enough. If you are looking for the perfect doula, look no further.”

"My wife and I weren't sure we really needed a doula (our birth prep class gave us a lot of confidence and we felt great about our midwives), but as soon as Darian walked through the door on the day our daughter was born, I knew we'd made the right decision hiring her. She was with us for the many hours I labored at home and was the exact blend of kind and firm that I needed to keep labor progressing, plus she documented the journey with great photos and video, and kept our midwife updated along the way. Her encouragement, calm and positive demeanor, expert coaching and hip squeezes allowed me to have the medication-free birth I'd envisioned. Darian was always there when I needed her, but she also intuited when I needed a little space, or when my wife and I needed a moment to ourselves. "If you are looking for a doula I highly recommend Darian Lopez. She is a very nurturing person who is patient and has such a kind heart. From the moment that she walked in the room she brought a positive atmosphere with her that helped me to stay calm. Her encouraging words helped both my husband and I actually enjoy the labor process (which is not always the case). 

Darian helped me to feel physically empowered during my labor, and I literally felt stronger and more powerful while listening to her. It was the most amazing experience! I felt so safe, calm and relaxed (as relaxed as you could be during active labor) that I even fell asleep (twice!) right before pushing the baby out. 

This was my second birth (an at-home water birth) but my first time having a doula. Comparing both experiences, having a doula was very empowering, and she continually boosted my confidence in my choices for the birth process. For the husbands out there, Josh (my husband) loved the experience and was even able to catch the second baby (which he was not able to do with our first because he was by my side)."

Never could I have dreamed the love I got from her. Her attentiveness and sense of caring goes above and beyond. She pushed me further than I thought possible of myself. “Darian assisted my husband and I with our first baby. She is incredibly kind, funny, calm, and compassionate. Prior to the big day, she met with my husband and me to talk about our expectations, fears, and ideas about birth. Then when the day came she was constantly available via text until I was ready for her to come over. My only regret was that I didn't call her earlier.

During labor, she allowed my husband to feel comfortable stepping out for a minute for food and to collect his thoughts. She at one point even let my nurse know that I needed urgent attention when I wasn't able to speak for myself. She helped me advocate my wishes when the team was beginning to consider c-section as an option and we came to a compromise to attempt vaginal delivery. We had a healthy baby girl and I will forever appreciate Darian's encouragement and support in the process! I would hope she would be by my side should we have baby #2.”

"Being a mother of 3, I absolutely know how hard it is to have someone else take care of your baby without fear or worry. That being said, I felt complete trust with Darian since day 1. She knew exactly what my baby needed and how to care for him. She is an absolute pro and has been taking care of my baby boy and doing overnights for us since he was 5 weeks old. Darian has such a great way about her and always has the best attitude when she shows up at midnight. Darian knows exactly what needs to be done. She is so nurturing, calm and gentle. Darian allowed me and my husband to FINALLY sleep peacefully and without worry for a straight 7 hours. I have never even heard the baby cry while she is here. I give Darian the highest recommendation possible. I adore her, and always look forward to her coming to help us sleep :) what else can I say? She's the best!"

"If you're considering a doula I thoroughly recommend Darian. She is kind, generous, considerate and has an infectious smile.

I hired Darian during my third trimester of pregnancy. I knew I wanted a doula in the hospital room as this was my first child. Speaking on the phone with Darian I could tell we had a great connection. Once I met her in person and talking details I hired her on the spot. She came over and met my husband, and we hung out a few times to create a friendship. This made the delivery much better as I wasn't sharing the experience with a stranger -- instead it was with a friend. 

On a night I thought I might be in labor, Darian came over and helped me through the pain with massage, oils, breathing techniques. Alas my baby was stubborn and decided not to come until a week late during a scheduled induction. Darian arrived at the hospital with a birth ball and her supplies. She knew when to step in and help and when to allow my husband and I to have private time. Once the pain was too much to handle she stepped in to assist. Having her there to help was so amazing. We even shared a moment singing and dancing together to a favorite song. 

We asked her to photograph the moment for us, when meeting our baby, and she went above and beyond. Because of her we have lasting memories. 

I can't imagine my birth going any better, if and when I decide to have another I hope that Darian will be by my side."

"I cannot recommend Darian enough as a doula. I knew I wanted a hospital birth, with an epidural, but because I am so afraid of pain and medical stuff, I thought bringing in a doula would be beneficial. I'm so glad I contacted Darian. When we met, she explained that births these days focus so much on averting medical risks that the joy and specialness of the experience gets lost. I wholeheartedly agree, and recommend having her for a hospital birth.

Having Darian at my delivery was wonderful. She was supportive through my anxiety, always kept me comfortable with essential oil-dipped towels, kept the energy in the room positive, massaged me, etc. Many people see their labor and delivery as horrific experiences; but I am grateful to say I had a great time. Often people are afraid that doulas frown on hospital births and medication, but Darian isn't like that at all. She understands that every woman is different and is there to support you no matter which path you take in delivering a baby. Also as a side note, I'm not sure how heavy my leg is, but bravo to Darian to holding it up throughout the pushing process while being my cheerleader and encouraging when to breathe and when to push! Highly recommend Kind Kin Doula!!!"
